New Year, New Skin

New Year, New Skin

The start of a new year is the perfect time to make some skincare resolutions.

Our skin is the largest, most external organ that covers us from head to toe. But many of us only focus on skin health from the neck up! It's crucial to maintain healthy skin all over your body, and at Folli Oil, we are committed to helping you achieve skin health for your entire body.

Here are a few tips to give your skin the extra care it needs this month.

Out with the old, in with the new
Give your bathroom cabinet an update. Beauty products don't last forever. Check the labels and get rid of any that have passed their expiration date. If it's changed colour, smell or texture, throw it away!

Go Green
Green beauty isn't just good for our planet; it's good for our skin. For centuries, our ancestors used natural, plant-based ingredients to heal and preserve the body's health and well-being without long-term side effects. Check the labels and get rid of any products containing nasties, for more information about ingredients, click here. Folli Oil products are made in small batches (to ensure optimum freshness) using natural ingredients and are Vegan and cruelty-free.

Exfoliate!
Our skin naturally sheds the dead cells on our skin's uppermost layer; however, this process slows down as we age. This build-up can lead to blocked pores, resulting in ingrown hairs and breakouts and dull, coarse and lacklustre skin. Exfoliation helps this natural process, preventing a build-up of dead skin, revealing soft, smoother skin.

Our dual-action exfoliating Body Scrub dissolves dead skin cells, hydrates and delivers vital antioxidants, leaving your skin purified and refreshed. Massage onto wet skin using gentle circular motions, then rinse. Use 2-3 times a week.

Nourish and protect
Indoor heating and daily exposure to the elements can leave skin dehydrated and depleted. So it's a good idea to combat their drying effects and protect your skin's lipid barrier with Daily Treatment Oil; an antioxidant-rich blend of skin-nourishing oils to calm, replenish and moisturise your skin. Massage into clean, dry skin after bathing.

Use a daily SPF
Don't wait for summer to start using sun protection; the damaging UV rays can penetrate the clouds all year round. Wear a moisturiser with a minimum of SPF15 every day.

Drink more water
Keeping hydrated is key to skin and body health. It would be best to drink at least two litres of water a day to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.

Get more sleep
It's called 'beauty sleep' for a reason … at night your body is at its most active, repairing damage and renewing itself. During the deepest parts of sleep (when you're dreaming), your immune system strengthens, tissues repair, and bones and muscles are re-built. You should try and get a least eight hours a night.
